One-Hour No Sew Snuggle Blanket

I absolutely love cooler weather, especially when I have an excuse to light a fire, watch a movie, and snuggle up in a warm fleece blanket.  This is the easiest DIY blanket I have found thus far (many thanks to my very crafty aunt), and the best part is, it's machine washable!  Today, I was honored to celebrate a baby shower for a dear friend of mine, so I chose the fabric as seen above.  I purchased roughly two separate fleece pieces, three yards each.  To give you a rough idea, both pieces on top of each other almost covered a king-sized bed.

First, I laid one piece on top of each other, as seen below.  I kept the white strip with the writing that you see on the right, as I was going to cut it all up anyway.

Next, I cut strips from both fabric pieces (on top of each other) as seen below.  It was approx. 3 inches long, and 1 inch wide.  I didn't want them to be too wide or else it is more difficult to tie them together.

Here is a better depiction of how the strips appear in a row.  I normally cut the strips before tying, but you can cut as you go.

Next, I knot the piece on top and the one directly below two times.  Because both pieces of fleece were the same, I wasn't worried about which "tail" was on top or bottom.  You can manipulate the knot so the solid piece underneath (for example) will be on top next to the patterned piece (for example).  There is no right or wrong way to tie these guys.

After you've been knotting and reached the end, stop about five inches before you reach the end, because you need to have enough room to start the next side.  Remember to leave the corners until the end - you don't want to have a circular shaped blanket.

This is what my first row looked like (below):

Half way through!

When you have finished all four sides, go back to the corner, and cut out a smaller square from the remaining fabric.  Tie each piece laying on top of the other as normal.

Finished product!
